Shipping & Returns

We ship Mon-Thursday and some Fridays. Please know USPS and UPS often say "delivered" but it takes an additional day or two for the package to actually BE delivered --yes, it's annoying! We have to deal with this every single day, this is not in our control.

On US Federal Holidays no mail moves - you *may* see a label print, but it will leave the next mailing day.

Please keep shipping insurance (Package Protection) in your cart. If you take it out, you will have to file your own claim with USPS or UPS.

Did you know we will send a return label to you for returning items? When people "refuse" a delivery, it costs us triple the original postage to claim the parcel back. PLEASE DO NOT do this! EMAIL US or call us so we can handle it. Our contact page is here.

PRE ORDERS ship as stated in the listing -- usually these take some time to arrive. IF YOU COMBINE in stock items with a preorder they will ship TOGETHER at one time.  If you file a chargeback on a preorder I will ban you from my website for the rest of time. I've only had to do this once, but it is totally rediculous to make up a story about arrival times when it is NOT in my control. WE DO NOT HOLD BACK items- there is NO ROOM or time to do this. I've stayed until midnight shipping preorders because they arrive at 5pm, just to get them out the door. BE COOL or be banned for life.

We do NOT cover import fees or duties if shipping out of the USA. Tariffs/duties have NOTHING to do with our company, we have no control over them. 

Tracking info is ALWAYS sent by email as soon as the label is printed. Check your junk or promotions folders; it could have landed in one of them.

Product Description

The Joplin Carpet Bag PDF pattern is here! Please note this download includes pattern pieces to tile and tape together. This is a super fun make that is very easy - the hardest part will be inserting the pins into the frame. (At least for me it was a challenge because my hands aren't that strong). Use a mallet to whack 'em in and you're golden!

I'm using Shannon Fabrics Quilting Cuddle in the video tutorial for a unique alternative look, but any material will work if you have confidence using it.

This is a PDF pattern (instant download). The video is available for you (included).

Approximate Finished Size: 18” W x 15” H x 7” D

Materials / Hardware Requirements:

16” Tubular Frame (1)
Shannon Quilting Cuddle 1 yard or any substrate used in bag making
Quilting Cotton for lining 1 yard + 8” x 36” for pockets
Fusible Woven Interfacing equiv 2 yards
2” wide jacquard webbing 90” length total
Stretch Needle 90/14 ( *ONLY required for Quilting Cuddle)

Helpful tools: Usual sewing tools such as a rotary cutter and measuring mat, sewing stiletto, pins or clips, and a Teflon pressing sheet. Some people might prefer sewing this bag with a walking foot if using the Shannon Quilting Cuddle like I am in the video.
Fray Check is helpful to treat raw webbing edges.

Yes. It's suitable for beginner through intermediate sewists. The trickiest step is inserting the pins into the frame – a mallet makes it easy.

One 16" tubular carpet bag frame.

What fabric can I use?

Any bag-making material you're confident sewing. The video uses Shannon Fabrics Quilting Cuddle – use a 90/14 stretch needle if you do too.

The PDF includes pattern pieces you tile and tape together. A printed Joplin pattern with pattern pieces is also available.

This pattern is great! I’ve made 5 of them so far and love them. A few have been given as gifts and very well received. The instructions are very easy to follow. And there’s a really great video that helps if anything isn’t totally clear. I know I’ll be making more of these.
